When the sparrows come back to their condo in the sky it is a lot livelier around the back yard. When we first erected this large bird condominium, some 18 years ago we expected to attract martins but the sparrows got there first and never left. I guess one can say that in this case possession is nine-tenths of the law. However, we have no complaints as we love sparrows and they have been hard working, playful and reliable neighbors.
Every couple years we take the condo down, clean it return it to its pole. In the years that we leave it up, it is occupied year round even though not at full capacity. I guess some animals just don’t want to leave the comforts of home. It’s a peaceful martin house, minus the martins, as I never see any fights for space. I often wonder if the same sparrows come back each year, how many generations there are, how many chicks have been born there over the time and many other questions. Perhaps the answers will be revealed one day.
Thank you for reading and sharing your thoughts
sounds like the title of a psychological thriller to me
It could well could be as you say
or I could just have a morbid imagination. it could just as easily be a rom/com
Wooow, this is the right hotel for sparrows. I’m not surprised they do not want to leave this home.
Yes they are quite happy here
Oh I have too many already. Perhaps that is why they seem to dominate the yard but I do see other birds as well just not as many as the sparrows
Please take my sparrows, they re preventing the bluebirds form meeting. SO sad. But glad you are enjoying them in their nice home.
Responded but didn’t hit the reply button. I have too many already, they seem to control the yard so I can see why they intimidate the poor bluebirds.
