Poppy seeds are extremely rich in unsaturated fatty acids, especially oleic and linoleic (essential omega 6 fatty acids not produced by the body). It is found in cell membranes of plants and takes part in their construction, and encourages resorption and transport of vitamins A, D, E and K, which are soluble in fats. Omega 6 fatty acid can slow down the development of multiple sclerosis, protect the cardiovascular system, regulate blood pressure and blood clotting. It is also effective in the treatment of skin disorders. Out of poppy seed is extraordinary oil, which is a good substitute for olive. It is edible, and it gets cold pressing of raw seed. The mack sold in foodstuffs does not contain alkaloids (they create addiction), as the seeds are dried, but it does not affect the nervous system.
