Monsanto blinded me with science

source

The above article from Huffington Post shows how Monsanto employed Ketchum PR a few years ago because Monsanto was being destroyed in the press over genetically modified organisms (GMO) and glyphosate.

In order to suppress negative press, they had scientific studies ghostwritten that claimed that GMO products and the pesticide known as glyphosate was not as harmful as what scientists have been claiming over the past few decades.  The article shows other tactics that were used by Monsanto, but public relations have not been able to stop over 18,000 people suing Bayer, the owner of Monsanto, because the glyphosate in the weed killer known as Roundup has caused people to contract non-Hodgkins lymphoma.

Glyphosate is a known carcinogen that results in the user of the product obtaining cancer.  Instead of fixing the issue with their product, Monsanto created false studies about glyphosate and forgot to place a warning label on Roundup in regards to glyphosate.

The ironic part of the piece is that the biggest supporter of Monsanto is a blogger at Huffington Post.  That’s right; we now have blogger beef over Monsanto.

  1. Monsanto’s shennanigans, along with anti-vaxers and climate destabilization denial really underscore the importance of teaching science in schools. Real science, not the nonsense they’re trying to push in the south…
