While it’s Latin name is Helianthus maximiliana, the flower is more commonly known as Maximilian’s Sunflower. A late bloomer, we were concerned the weather would turn cold before it bloomed. However, it looks like we’ll get a few flowers before any fall freezes hit. I have the pictures ordered chronologically in different stages of the flowers development. It’s been uncommonly cloudy all weekend, but we have some partly sunny days forecast for later this week. Hopefully, the sun will coax out a few more bright blooms. As most of our garden is just about ready to be pulled up, it would be nice to have some vibrant color in one corner of our yard.
