At first I thought it was a bee, but as an opportunity I photographed it. Turned out this was a wasp. I don’t know what it was finding in this grass, but it may have been anything at all, including just water or nectar.
The photo was taken at Lake Hakanoa, Huntly, yesterday April 14th.
Some of the grass or the foliage here is unusual but I like it.
I like its color, but my wife is scared of them a bit
