Every summer, Monsanto hosts a Farmers Market in Granite City, IL, a suburb of St. Louis, the headquarters of Monsanto. Realize that St. Louis does not want anything sponsored by Monsanto anywhere within their city even though Monsanto has been around for over 100 years. The nickname of St. Louis is “The Loo.” The city is associated with a toilet and the toilet bowl wants to keep Monsanto away.
At this Farmers Market, many of Monsanto’s employees eat some of the GMO corn grown at this particular farm in Granite City. I need to know if there is a clause in their contracts that forces them to eat this corn. Working at Monsanto means that you have the chance to eat corn covered in pesticides. Yum!
Unfortunately, big corporations can do whatever they come up with. Workers certainly do not dare say no.
That’s true – lives are at stake.
As I see, everything is really allowed in America … something like this would certainly not happen to us
Yes, you are right because Slovenia has banned genetically modified crops. In America, corporations can pay off every member in the government through lobbying.
But do we have America for something better?
There is something better, but they choose not to do it.
how are they allowed to get away with everything?
They say that their employees eat GMO corn every year at this event, and nothing happens to them.
less worried about GMOs; more worried about the carcinogens, bees and soil. oh yeah and their illegal business practices
