I never really had a thing for rubber duckies until I went to a fund raiser for SLE Lupus to help with getting those that are afflicted the medicine they need. After insurance the costs are still above $8,000.00 a month. Those who want to keep their family member in the best condition will to to extraordinary means to make it happen.
Any way you buy a rubber duckie (or many) and they race down the track. The top five places get a small cash price. The first year I went we bought 25 duckies because there was a company match. So we had 50 rubber duckies in the race.
Three of our ducks placed for prizes. My brother, who has the illness said, put the money back into the “pot” so everyone gets a little more help. Now we look high and low to find interesting rubber duckies to have for the race.
