We are lucky (or unlucky) enough to know someone who places all value on how wealthy a person is. His temperament for those with little money or middle class is very low. They simply don’t amount to much in his opinion.
Recently he was making funeral arrangements and I happened to be in the room working. He asked me what I thought and I told him that he really didn’t want to know. He pressed, so this is what I told him.
“There is simply no reason for you to plan a huge funeral. There will be very few people there, unless you offer to pay them to come. Your “friends” are just like you, only friends who have a need to be seen with money.” When you are gone there is no reason to be there.
Those of us who tolerate you might show up because we feel sorry for you and your family. We know you don’t value us at all living or dead, and still we respect you as a human. So there will be four of us there and I wouldn’t expect anyone else, unless of course you pay them to come.”
He was shocked. He said “thousands will come”. I quietly said “Your grandchildren won’t even come to your home because you don’t approve of their low income teaching jobs. Rest assured, we will go so someone is there.”
In Chinese, we’ve a saying, “Never despise/laugh at people who wear tattered clothes (poor people)” for they could be poor but doesn’t mean they’ll be poor all their lives nor does it makes them “bad”.

everything is about business and “face” and not the inside
I believe that actions are much easier to read than words. There are great people with every level of income if you look hard enough.
