Pitcairn Islands, New Zealand
are a group of four islands, of which only Pitcairn Island , are located in the southern Pacific Ocean, are part of Polynesia and the last British colony in the Pacific. Name are named after Robert Pitcairn, a sailor who first saw the island of Pitcairn, 1767. After a revolt on the ship “Bounty” in 1789, the rebels have settled on Pitcairn Islands led by Fletcher Christian, and with them they took a group of natives from Tahiti. Their descendants still live there and burned the ship, which is still looming underwater.
It’s a very long way from New Zealand! The full story of the Bounty Mutiny and its aftermath is a sad and tragic one, and the lives of the Pitcairn Islanders down the centuries have been far from easy.
I haven’t heard of this but it looks beautiful
beautiful island , i have read some of information about this island
Did not know there were separate islands in New Zealand I did get to see a bit of NZ a long time ago
New Zealand is itself a group of islands, but Pitcairn is thousands of miles away!
Thanks. Strangely not much is talked about these islands other than North and South
I just checked and I see there are 33 islands but many have zero popuulation and tiny too as small as 9 km2
