I have viewed this story today on many different networks and I just don’t know how I feel. The family of the prisoner being released says he has never been a terrorist. However, there is much documentation that he, or someone pretending to be him is radicalized. There was enough evidence to convict him and send him to prison.
I see all sorts of red flags. Will he be safe released? Will others be safe with his release? It would be interesting to read the information that convinced the prison to give him an early out. I wish that documentation was public.
There is always more than one side to a story.
This is a really tough issue. First, without incident, he served 17 years of a 20-year sentence so in fairness he was eligible for parole.
But…
I don’t know, there are so many conflicting stories about this young man I am not sure there is a good answer.
It does seem very complicated. I hope he has had a change of heart. I believe that is possible.
I hope you are right. He moved to Northern VA. Just about 20 miles south of where I live.
My deepest wish is that he truly has reformed.
Have been very concerned about his release. I read that Lindh, who was convicted of providing support to the Taliban, was freed three years early for good behavior. Good behavior?
I wonder what good behavior might be in a prison anyway.
