Canadian Pacific #9757 at the Edgebrook Metra Station, Chicago, Illinois (2018-10-06 11-08-48d)
Canadian Pacific #9757 is a GE AC4400CW which was built in July 2003. The photo was taken at the Edgebrook Metra station in Chicago, Illinois.
I used a Nikon Coolpix P7700 camera to take the photo. Editing was done using ACDSee Ultimate 2019. I started with the Bloody Mary action to convert everything but the reds to monochrome. Then I adjusted the lighting, sharpened the image, added the Dehaze filter and reduced the noise. Lastly I adjusted the curves and increased the saturation and brightness in the reds over the setting used in the action.

Excellent as always Gary. The red is perfect.
Thanks, Carol. I appreciate it.
It is always fun to watch a train pull into the station! Wonderful picture Gary!
I have a friend who is very much into trains and we go out periodically to do some photography. This was from one of our outings.
Did you know there was a train museum (and working train tracks) down in French Lick Indiana?
I wasn’t aware of that one. Thanks for the heads up. I keep a list of railroad museums so I added it to the list.
There’s also a very nice one – the Illinois Railway Museum – which is much closer to my house although I’ve never been there but I follow it on Facebook. I almost made it there last summer but on the date we had set aside for it on our vacation it poured.
My great grandfather was a finish carpenter for the Pullman Car company in Aurora Illinois. Trains are an important part of our family history!
I love seeing trains on the tracks because they are invaluable to every community.
Because of its location, Chicago was the center of the railroad industry for quite some time. Sadly that is not the case as much any longer. I moved here in 1967 and rail service has really gone downhill in that time.
I am sorry to know that the railroad industry in Chicago has fallen on hard times.
Great picture of a CN rail train! Hourray as I am a proud Canadian! Even though they have a bad reputation lately, I think trains and buses are the best way to travel compared to cars and planes. Here we are in the same predicament as the US as our infrastructure cannot afford and have high speed rails such as the ones in Japan (which can and have withstood earthquakes). Very nice editing with all that flashy red just like our flag. Thank you for posting this.
We get a lot of Canadian Northern and Canadian Pacific trains down here.
I like trains more than cars and airplanes also although, despite the Green New Deal recently proposed by the Democrats, they are not very practical when it comes to connecting Hawaii with the rest of the country. 🙂
My daughter went to visit a friend in Japan and had a chance to ride the bullet train there. She loved it.
Very nice looking train, I like trains. In Auckland we need to extend our train services.
Train service in America varies a lot depending on where. Our infrastructure is in bad shape. We can’t have high-speed rail like they have in Japan and France.
