Why so Negative???

So, after a long absence at the end of last year, this is officially my first post for the year. I will try my best to write more but we all know life can be a bit hectic at times.

At the end of last year, I noticed that a lot of people has lost their positivity, sharing pictures like these on Facebook etc.

I don’t want to be funny, but every year everybody says: “Let’s hope next year is better than this one.” As if the longer these people are alive, the worst their lives becomes. Then they all start the New Year out all positive and full of high hopes but eventually they lose hope and start wishing the year would end.

Come on people! That is the way life goes. Some days are good, others are the worst ever. That does not mean that we can go lie on heap wallowing in self-pity. Sometimes it doesn’t rain, it pours, but it cannot keep raining forever. At some stage the sun will shine again.

As for me, I was quite sad to say goodbye to 2018. It was pretty good to me. Yes, things happened here and there where I would say I definitely do not want to relive that day, but that is where it stays, only with a day here and there.

If we think logically about all of it, keep wishing the year to be over we wish our lives away, wishing ourselves older and eventually wishing for death to come quicker. As time goes faster, the faster we approach the end of our days. So do we really want to keep saying I wish this year can just end now?

I can’t help but to wonder what goes on in people’s minds with all that negativity. I classify myself as an optimist. Taking the bad days with its punches, hoping tomorrow will be better. 2019 has already been unkind to me, but I refuse to stay locked up in my room feeling sorry for myself. Still, I have this feeling that this is going to be one amazing year.

People tend to make all these ridiculous New Year’s Resolutions and end up all depressed because they couldn’t keep up with the resolution for even a month. Instead, I have my goals and dreams I work towards. As long as I do just a little every day, at the end of the year I will look back and reflect on my achievements, see what I have accomplished and identify in which areas I failed.

Being negative the whole time does more damage than we realize. We learn in Psychology that when people are focused on negative thoughts the whole time, it actually slows down the functionality of your brain. It causes memory loss and eventually can lead to depression. On the other hand, by being happy and positive it stimulates the growth of nerve connections, increases mental productivity and improves your ability to analyze.

Don’t get me wrong, I am not criticizing anyone here. I realize some circumstances are beyond our control and that depression is a terrible burden to live with. It is however, controllable with the proper care. I had my darker times as well, where I couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel but I made a conscious decision to train myself to become the Optimist I once was, again.

I made a list of things we can do to see the brighter side of life again:

  • Be thankful every morning, for waking up Healthy and Alive.
  • Realize that you are Loved by family and friends.
  • Make time to play with Pets.
  • Spend time in Nature to calm your nerves.
  • Listen to Music that makes you feel good.
  • Get a Hobby and make time to Practice it.
  • Exercise.
  • Most importantly, Count your Blessings.

  1. Della is back, both the post and her wisdom!

Years are just numbers of the recording limits of when life gives a painful hit and a hard slap or puts us in a comfortable chair while being fanned by the king’s maid. The more scars on the face, the more it proves our strength to survive after at the same time, life has treats and has also given food properly under the shade of trees.

  3. So the Lady is back! Happy to see you, love. Well, 2018 was a year, I read, for inner growth and so we were constantly challenged especially in the patience and tolerance department. However, that is life being life. We cannot control life but we can control our reaction towards life. The negativity? It is the age of snowflakes ?. People easily get offended with almost anything. Still, keep your little light shining bright Fair Lady and you will be alright. Hugs and love from me to you ?‍♀️

  4. First, I am so happy you are back!!!!!

Second, I cannot tell you how happy your post made me! First your topic is so spot on right now. The negativity of the world is so pungent now, it needs, as your picture denotes, to be taken out.

It is all about responsibility! We, as people are responsible for what we say and do!!

I am so glad you are back Della!!!!!
