On Monday evening an eight year old boy was chasing his pet dog in New Harmony Utah in a frozen pond when he the child fell into the icy water.
Thanks to the quick thinking of a neighbor who saw the incident when the boy named Jason fell into the icy water, the neighbor called the Washington County Sheriff’s Office to report the incident.
As soon as the police were called, Washington County Sheriff Sergeant Aaron Thompson arrived at the scene of the incident about 30 minutes later.
Sergeant Thompson then went to the frozen pond and he started his rescue mission by using whatever means he had in his disposal to break the ice in the pond by jumping and punching the icy waters so he could dive in and rescue the eight year old boy who was underneath the icy pond.
Thompson was able to rescue the eight year old boy who was drifting in the icy pond a few minutes later. The eight year old boy was taken to a local hospital where he is expected to survive due to the time he was in the icy pond, his young age and the fact that the icy pond temperature was warm enough to keep him alive.
I am sure the eight year old boy will think twice before running into an icy pond since he was lucky on Christmas night that Sergeant Thompson played the role of his guardian angel.
Nevertheless it is being called The Miracle Of Christmas in Utah.
Thank you for highlighting Sergeant Thompson’s heroic actions here. It’s a wonderful thing to read about such courageous acts, especially when they are successful!
My pleasure to share good stories on this site.
This is a true example of heroism.
You are correct since the sergeant could have passed away if he did not get out of the icy pond in time as well as the eight year old child who was in the icy pond.
We’re all people, but very few are humans. 🙂
Excellent point you have there Zaklina.
I think this sort of thing happens all the time and goes unremarked while the tragedies are over reported. It is nice to see someone focusing on the positive for a change…
It is my pleasure but the credit goes to my sister who suggested that I should write good stories instead of following the crowd.
It is nice to see, whoever thought of it. But give your sis a thumbs up for me…
Thank you since she believes that blogging about good news will be a better deal than blogging about the bad news today.
I think a positive attitude can go a long way
I heard about this on the news, what a heroic act.
It was an awesome story since a child was saved a police officer on Christmas evening.
This is a beautiful caring of fellow and great heroic help.
It is one great heartwarming story that I enjoyed writing on this site.
That’s right, and your basic theme choice is so noble!
My sister told me to blog about good deeds instead of blogging the bad news on this site.
She’s right! Oh… Is your sister our friend here too?
My sister does not write any blogs here.
Nice post! Nice picture!
Thank you Georgi. It is a good thing that a police officer was able to save a young boy from drowning in an icy pond.
