If you are at all interested in tracing your genealogy, you should be excited about the new version of RootsMagic (7.5) which was released today. The exciting new feature is integration between the program and Ancestry.Com. The new version is a free update to users of RootsMagic 7.

There are two new features to this version:

TreeShare – This option allows you to move data between your family tree in Rootsmagic and the version stored in Ancestry.Com. This is especially important if you are collaborating with others online. Not only can you transfer people, you can also transfer events, notes, source citations and pictures between the two systems.

Ancestry Hints added to RootsMagic’s WebHints feature – If Ancestry.Com has a hint that might help in your search, you can access that tip from within RootsMagic and add it to you data.

The free version of RootsMagic does not include these tools but the full-blown version of the program is only $29.95 and is a must for anyone who is even semi-serious about their genealogy.
