Mike is the archetypal Boss From Hell. He performs every obnoxious act available to enforce his ‘power’.
He will micro manage, he will insult, he will lecture, and he will encroach on the private lives of his staff. He will call them at home, on weekends, in the middle of the night.
Mike will make demands which do not gather him finance or success, they are made to demean his employees and elevate himself.
To demean his employees, to abuse them, is what Mike relishes. He can lose half his business, more, it doesn’t matter. What matters to Mike is giving orders and having them obeyed.
He needs to feel powerful. He needs to exert this power.
That is the point of Mike’s Business.
Although on paper, in the real world, it may appear to be an office in which work is transacted, in Mike’s mind, it is his kingdom to make him feel exalted.
As any abuser, Mike’s bottom line was his sense of superiority.
When you allow yourself to believe an abuser changed, you put yourself more at risk than the first time.

Personally, I give a second, third, fourth, and so on chance on every instances in life until I get tired of giving a chance then I quit

Yes, I think so, so far, I have not met a real abuser. Thanks God.
But I think you are right, it will be very dangerous, especially if the person is physical and/or verbal abuser.
