The letter “E” is for eggs in my Alphabet Photo Challenge. I get fresh eggs just about every day from my hens that I pick up out of their nest boxes in their chicken coop. I have right over 20 hens now and the new little ladies I got last Spring are just now starting to lay. This is welcome since they normally slow down in laying once the days become shorter. During the Spring and Summer months a hen will lay every day or every other day. We have enough eggs then to share with family and friends. We enjoy the fresh eggs so much that I doubt I will ever buy another egg from the grocery store. Why? Freshly laid eggs taste much better.
Do you have any chickens or have you had them in the past?

I haven’t had a chicken yet. My neighbor who has chickens gives me eggs.
That is very nice for him/her to do! I bring extras to a neighbor down the road.
What a refreshing post!! This must be wonderful, I have never had such experience, I always buy eggs at the supermarket.
I hope you get to experience eating fresh eggs for breakfast soon! You will love them!
I grew up always having fresh eggs.
That is so wonderful, Carol!!
We have four chicken at home and every day we get fore eggs these days
What area do you live in? It sounds like yours have external lighting or you are in Spring/Summer there.
Days when all lay is a big win!
my dad had chickens on the mini-farm. You are so right fresh eggs are amazing! I would house sit for them when they traveled and I had eggs for breakfast every day I was there!!!
It’s totally worth the trouble of feeding and even cleaning the coop!
i remember – both. The cleaning and the amazing eggs!
I think the good out weighs the bad in this case!
i agree! i loved those eggs!
It’s lovely getting fresh eggs every day. Unfortunately, I don’t have any chickens now, but we did have them at home when I was a child. I used to love collecting the eggs in the mornings.
I didn’t get to experience having them growing up, but I am loving it all now. I would love to live on a farm! I’m afraid I’m too old for all the work now.
