My Own Vegan Creamer Recipe Experiment

Wednesday, July 18, 2018

I didn’t sleep all night, probably because of my coffee addiction. So, I decided to get up early, around 5 am. Besides, Gumby wanted something. So, I fed him earlier than usual today. I turned on the TV, on the usual indie channels, and I noticed two rerun episodes of Mad About You at 5 am. I have always liked that series. So, I made my first cup of coffee and a simple breakfast while watching these episodes.

Then, I spent all morning, cleaning most of the kitchen, which is mostly the stove, inside of the stove, counter, appliances on the counter, and the sink. I also did the colored clothes of laundry. I still need to do the inside of the refrigerator, in which I will do some other time, as well as mop the kitchen floor.

Later that night, even though I didn’t feel like drinking coffee, I looked inside my fridge and I noticed a bag of some shredded unsweetened coconut, left over from when I made some vegan cupcakes in the past. I wondered if I could make my own vegan creamer with this shredded coconut. So, I decided to do a little experiment to create my own mixture. But, first, I put 4 tablespoons of shredded coconuts into a grinder to make it into powder form. Then, I put the 4 tablespoons of powdered coconuts, 1 teaspoon of vegan and raw turbinado cane sugar, some virgin coconut oil (to give it that milk creaminess), and water into my Magic Bullet. I mixed ingredients a couple times, before opening it to check it, and I noticed a creamy and butter layer on the surface. I put that on the side, while I brewed 6 oz of espresso in my Moka. After pouring the espresso into a glass cup, I decided to mix the vegan coconut milk once more before I poured it over the espresso. After mixing the coconut milk mixture, I noticed that the creamy top layer is now frothy, kind of like real cappuccino froth. I poured some over my coffee, while placed that rest inside a Tupperware bowl for future use.

As I sipped my Vegan Cappuccino drink, I tasted the espresso bitterness as well as the creamy and buttery taste of the vegan coconut milk that I created. It actually tasted good. I suddenly glanced at my clock to notice that it was 11:11 pm. I probably won’t sleep much tonight either. Oh, well, I need to get some work done.

I just remembered that I forgot to added some cinnamon to top. Maybe next time…
