When the sound shatters

The cupped ears

wrapped around the

edges of a mirror

failed.

Each one

began to

lose connection to

what was the

sound.

cupped against

the glass

but

the sounds fading

lifted over

the cupped ears

a wave

undulating

past the cupped ears

and landing on the

edge of the table

to tumble

to the floor and shatter.
