The Sea of Love

Not only the song but also the movie are my favorites. “The Sea Of Love”  came out in 1989 and is an American thriller starring Al Pacino, Ellen Barkin, and John Goodman. It has a great plot that keeps you on the edge of your seat. The movie basically centers around this song.

A serial killer is going around killing guys who put in and respond to ads from people who are looking for love. The nut case puts on a 45 R.P.M. record. Remember those little singles? Then “The Sea of Love” starts to play and the guy whose apartment the killer has broken into or forced his way in gets shot. Al Pacino and John Goodman portray New York City detectives who are assigned to find the killer.

Of course, any movie that involves my hometown NYC interests me and I was glad to discover that this is a really good movie. Al Pachino as Frank Keller gets romantically involved with Ellen Barkin as Helen Cruger. Not to give anything away I will say that at some point Detective Frank Keller thinks that Helen is the one shooting all the guys. Why? Well, you’ll just have to find out for yourself. The movie begins with the song and ends with it as well.
