Playing Him Like a Piano – part 15

Kat   left Jeremiah’s house and went straight to her mother’s to beg the  rent money.  She gave a complete dissection of Jeremiah Roberts.

They  discussed strategy.

Her mother, Lucy-Ann, thought it was wise that she had acted surprised he lived there.  This ‘proved’  Kat hadn’t followed him, spied on him, or was setting him up.

Asking a few more  questions as to his demeanor and decided that Kat was not to make any kind of first move.

“What   you should do is make ackee and saltfish and put yourself in the kitchen when he would use it, and offer him.  He probably won’t  take it, so put it into the fridge for later.   He might eat some in your absence. “

“So he’s playing “Mas Pishon..”  Kat laughed.

‘Mas Pishon’ was their term for the suspicious kind.  The kind of guy who is hamstrung by ridiculous notions of people trying to use him.

These men were the easiest to fool.

So wary, so cautious and suspicious, all one had to do is have them think one was trying to trick them, then prove they were not.   It could be anything.

Anything to make the  ‘Mas Pishon’  believe he had wrongly accused or misjudged.   This would destroy his suspicion forever.   Nothing terrifies a Mas Pishon more than to wrongly accuse another and be proven wrong.

This would make the Mas Pishon the easiest mark on earth.
