I know August has come and gone but I am talking about the double album Neil Diamond released that is a recording of this concert on August 24, 1972. This is one of his best albums because it includes many of the songs that became great hits for him.
The album included such memorable songs like “Play Me,” “Song Sung Blue,” “Holly Holy,”” and Ï Am, I Said.””
Of course, you know this is my song for he sings that NYC is home but it ain’t mine no more. It always gets to me every time I listen.
His songs always bring me way back in time and bring back many wonderful memories. What I also enjoyed from this album were such songs as “Red Red Wine” with many a night sitting listening to the song and toasting and “Soggy Pretzels” which is a great teary-eyed beer song. Finally let’s all raise a glass to some great music.
After the release of this album he did three more – Hot August Night II in 1987, Hot August Night/NYC in 2009, and Hot August Night III in 2018. I will write on these as a series of Diamond’s awesome music and songs.
I remember this one much later, not when it first came out.
this one is high on my all-time playlist – epic song! Great lyrics!
The title is appropriate for the kind of day we are having today.
