Jamaican Sayings – 9

“Mi throw mi corn, but me no call no fowl”

This statement  can be connected to a few others, which basically say, the person who responds to what is said is the guilty party.

Throwing corn, in ancient days, meant saying words. The term ‘corn’ was later used to mean ‘bullet’ so that if I said, “Bigga pick up corn’  it would mean Bigga was shot.

Bob Marley used the term, plus others in his song.

It is usually said after one of those situations in which someone is talking about something without calling names or giving specifics and another person jumps up to defend or attack.
