I am not one for passing up a garage sale. Being in my situation, I find garage sales and yard sales to be a great source of t-shirts and other clothes.
But this time, I found something a little more.
The chess set you see pictured stuck out to me. Once I saw the woodwork and the details, I knew this chess set is something unique.
There's something a non-chess-player can not understand - this view.
To be looking down upon the battlefield, surveying the troops and working out strategy - this is a nerdgasm!
And, if you can pay my asking price, feel free to message me.
As much as I hate to, I must sell this. I just need to find those who know what they're looking at.
The husband was out putting up garage sale signs when I had approached so the only one I could ask was the Mrs.
She told me "One dollar."
I said, "If I pay you just one dollar for this and he comes back, are you going to be in trouble?"
She looked me in the eye, smiled and said, "I don't give a sh**,"
And now to open the treasure.
That dollar flew out of my pocket, fast.
As soon as I had paid for it, he appeared back around the corner. She seemed to enjoy telling him she had sold his chessboard for a dollar.
He began telling me the story of this chessboard. It turns out, this chessboard was a gift from a long-gone friend of his, who had brought this to him for Israel, years ago.
This set looks so cool. Sorry I have missed your latest posts. I never saw it on the latest category.
Nice find!!! Too bad you have to sell it. I bet its going for more than a buck. lol Love this and the story.
Very nice..I’m keeping my father’s chess … … bought him more than 40 years ago.I would never sell it.
Wow that is an impressive find. It is probably very valuable. Lucky you to find this treasure.
