Chingay is a National Event in Singapore and is also the largest street performance and float parade in Asia. From the main parade site to the heartlands, this street extravaganza epitomises the dynamism of Singapore’s vibrant and multicultural society.
The word Chingay is equivalent to the Mandarin zhuang yi (妆艺), which means “the art of costume and masquerade” in the Hokkien dialect.
Quoted from About Chingay Parade
I’ve been to the rehearsal Chingay 2018 event because my aunt have free tickets. There are many groups of performers including some from our neighbours like Malaysia, Inodnesia, Vietnam and even South Korea!
There are a variety of performances that display the culture of the different races and countries. However, I wasn’t in the best spot to take nice photos of the performances so I didn’t take any.
