I was about to attempt to get some rest prior to my overnight work shift until I looked at the temperature for today. The temperature was in the mid forties! I had to do a double take and I literally thought to myself, damn! I shouldn’t be lying in my bed, I should be outdoors getting a run in. Living in a city like Chicago, I would be a fool to give in and not get a run in because who knows what the temperature will be tomorrow. It is spring, but we do get temperatures that are winter-like in Illinois, and Illinois is known to get snow in the spring too. I literally sprung out of my bed and put on my running attire quickly with no debate what to wear as long as it had sleeves I was wearing it along with tights. After putting on my running attire, I hopped in my car and drove off to Humboldt Park to get a short run in around the park.
While near the park, I literally thought to myself after seeing other runners running that seasoned runners are truly in sync with one another as far as what to wear. Despite it being in the forties, that does not mean that you should go out wearing just shorts and a t-shirt, no. Many runners were dressed like I, wearing longsleeve shirts or light jackets with either running tights or sweats.

During my entire run, I kept thinking only about the corona virus and this social distancing thing. I wonder how long are we going to be doing this because it seems ridiculous. I also thought to myself what if you have a partner that catches the coronavirus, what do you do? Do you divorce your partner, or do you break up with them if you’re not married? I am curious, but I wouldn’t want to be in any ones shoes that is experiencing that while we are in admist of it. What would you do?

I feel that they will shut it down because it is just getting too congested. Going into next week I will seek out a new trail or drive out to Fullerton woods trail near Rosemont.
sorry about that – it is a rough drive well maybe not now!
i suspect some will decide social distancing is the new norm and not stop when this is over!
I love Humbolt park!!! used to walk around the lakes in the evening. Remember you chasing alligators there as well!!!!
So curious where we will be with this a year from now. As for the alligator, I saw a Google review earlier that mentioned the alligator. I died laughing because that thing is long gone unless someone dumped another in the lagoon. I’ll have to carry out a new alligator hunt once it warms up
it is always interesting! it made me laugh when you posted it! good luck
Thomas G Alligator Hunter of the North! we need a catchy nickname for you, the one I made is a little clunky!
Gator hunter of the midwest sounds pretty good.
The Gator Runner
you can run
but gators can’t hide!
I’ll most likely be running there near or afternoon. Temps are supposed to be in the fifties again like yesterday. I went out on the bike.
TG Gator hunter
he finds you
he gets you
unless you aren’t a gator
I am loving this – we need t-shirts!
I thought it was hilarious when I did find t shirts about the gator.
i think the TG Gator Removal service would have its own Tshirt!

Fullerton woods, used to walk there. My customer had a training facility in Rosemont, I taught a class there for a week and walked the woods every night!
It has history, but I always blank it out when I’m alone in most parts. It gets a little too quiet, but I’d imagine at night it’s a totally different feeling.
i was walking at dusk/early dark it got scary a few times.
Even though it feels awkward in certain parts of Fullerton Woods, I tell myself that if I weren’t wanted, then something would’ve ran me out by now. Out of respect, I avoid going into parts of the trail because it is so sacred.
Down the road I plan to do hikes on Fullerton Woods. Should be fun. And I’ll be able to capture more, even though I have enough in my review.
when I was running my favorite run was along the lake shore, from the gold coast down!
I love biking that part of the Lakefront trail
it is just amazingly beautiful – I miss that part of Chicago!
