I was walking into a chain drug store. You know the type. They always seem to have potted flowers for sale outside the door to grab your attention before you even get into the door. And it works too. It grabbed my attention. The lovely variety of cheerful color and dancing flower faces were so inviting. So I pulled out my camera and snapped a few photos to paint from when I got home. When I picked a photo and started drawing in the shapes I noticed the sale sign. I hadn’t noticed it at first. Someone in this store doesn’t know how to spell. These are not “Prime Rosses” they are primroses. I laughed at the absurdity of the spelling and the more I sketched the more amused I became. I thought it such a good joke I decided to keep that in the final painting. Bad decision. You see, now anywhere I show this painting someone invariably reminds me that this is not the way to spell primroses. I KNOW THAT. I guess the joke is on me.
What do you think? Should I have left the sign off or painted the name correctly?
Fantastic
Sweet of you to say so. Thanks for commenting.
Very nice
Thank you so much. I appreciate you commenting.
I like it the way it is, kind of gives it a time mark.
It is a time gone by, isn’t it? I don’t see so many of these anymore. I’m glad I captured it when I did. Who knew it would be a thing of the past? Thanks for commenting.
Love it
Thanks. I appreciate the comments.
left the sign off! 😛
Yeah. I think so too. I wonder if I could paint it out at this late date or if I should start over from scratch.
