Must You

<a href="" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Source</a>

Must you look at me that way

must I feel the way I do

must you raise me towards the sky

then leave me feeling blue

must you continue patterns

must you always go away

won’t you stay this time

and prove you’ve changed your ways

What do you think?

    • you are the best! In this relationship it was a bit of putting the blame of pain on both parties. As i reread it, it also reminds me of another situation where I was involved with someone at work and I would say to him, must you look so hot at work? 🙂

    • thank you so much for your comment. OMG I must be in a hole. I didn’t know Donna Summer died. Although I swim mostly in the pain end of the pool, I do occasionally express joy too. In this situation, it is a little of both.

    • wow. thank you so much! your reads and comments and votes mean more than you know. The great thing about poetry is the ability to make something beautiful out of something that once caused pain. to be able to share it and have it resonate with others is what it is all about.

    • thank you so much!!! luckily this is pain from the past. I am doing great. i find poetry such a healthy and cathartic way of dealing with negativity and pain. at least there is something beautiful out of something once painful or ugly. thanks for taking the time to read and comment.

    • thanks Gina. I am sending a virtual hug for your reads and comments. It means so much to me. Two years ago I was afraid to share my work. I have received such positive reinforcement on Virily, more in 1 month than I have on other sites after years! this is such a great, supportive community.
