“Love” Poems For Kathy Number Fifteen

FRAGMENT

I would have placed (past prayer)

that fragment of my mind – thin pearl

and the sheen of beaten gold to shake air

fancy-light out of winter mould

though now the killed-cold me

hatches a stone-studding blossom as hard

as it is brassy with bronze to mount magnificently

high shadow, shade, shard.
