This is a dessert in Louisiana during Mardi Gras or also known as Fat Tuesday. It comes in various flavors from cinnamon to cream cheese to strawberry along with other flavors as well. This is the dessert that comes with the baby inside usually, but lately it is in a little bag and too there may be strands of colored beads along with the cake and the baby. I heard when the baby is hidden inside the person who finds it is suppose to buy the next King Cake. My favorite is the cream cheese flavor, but I also like the other flavors as well.
I also just remembered is that Lent is coming up and this is the chance to eat, drink and be merry and is to have fun before giving something up for 40 days. Another way of looking for a new start as the spring flowers (crocus) in the image is suppose to mean.
