The Problem with Elk!

It’s clear that I love watching these magnificent animals. There is something almost regal about them. However, they don’t know how to pose and I don’t know how to be steady and when to click. I am hopeful I will get better over time, and for now, this I the best I have to offer. (They don’t turn around and say “cheese”.)

This is a picture of elk totally ignoring me and not giving me the shot I want!

No, these aren't some effects that I tried to add. This is what happens when you go out in the evening when it is snowing and try to take pictures. It's a little strange, but I kind of like it because I have a memory attached to it.

You might notice the horns are not very big. This time of year, the big bulls gather up and hang together. They have been moving around a lot and this last week we have lost track of them. It could be that they are long gone. They often move over 80 miles a day. It could just be they are right over the hill.

This is a spike elk, a young bull and they hand with the cows (female elk).
