Debbie Presland who is the administrator of the Ridgeview Gardens Assisted Living in St. George Utah asked Lillian Grant, 103, what she wanted for her 103rd birthday.
Lillian replied to Debbie since the death of her cat named Sammy who passed away about two years ago, she wanted a cat that could fill the void after the death of Sammy.
Debbie then contacted her brother Joseph Harradine who is an officer with the St. George Animal Center if he could find a cat to make Lillian happy in her remaining years of her life.
Joseph was able to bring to his sister a nine year old cat named Marley who was taken to the animal center by his previous owner who moved to an assisted living home that did now allow any pets.
When Lillian celebrated her 103rd birthday earlier this month, she was very happy that Marley liked the company of his new owner.
Lillian named her new cat companion Marley by his new name Marley Sammy since even though Marley has filled the void for Lillian after the death of Sammy, Lillian will never forget the wonderful times that she spent with Sammy.
It is nice to see that Debbie Presland cares for the welfare of Lillian by getting her wish come true by bringing Marley from an animal center to an assistant living center so Lillian can feel happy for the rest of her life.
I can relate to Lillian is going through even though my dog named Wimpy passed away in 1982, I still remember him since I have his picture and his brother Hero near my computer on the wall.
Pets are often like family members. Such a lovely story!
Dogs and cats are like my kids.
The connection between man and his love for animals is forever
That is very true since dogs and cats give unconditional love.
One proof that love is forever!
You are correct Albert. I like your comment since it is true.
I am glad that we agree!
Me too Albert. It is a good thing.
A cat will help Lillian find a purpose in her life since humans like to the company of either a cat or dog.
A most heartwarming story. Glad for her.
Me too since Lillian received a wonderful birthday gift at her nursing home. A lovely cat to keep her company.
Ohh that’s so nice! I liked the idea even though I don’t like cats that much. Great post!
My pleasure to share this wonderful story. At least Lillian got her dream come true on her 103rd birthday with a new cat to keep her company,
