The story of a mixed Australian dog named Brad is one for the record books dog of a pet that could not find a permanent home in the state of Hawaii since he had the misfortune of not being able to be adopted by a loving family who could afford to keep him as a pet for life.
Brad would get adopted by one loving family for a short period of time before he would be returned to the Oahu SPCA Animal Shelter waiting for another chance for someone to adopt him and give him a new home to stay.
A couple from Michigan whose names were not identified were in Hawaii for a vacation when they saw Brad at the animal shelter. The couple were impressed with the dog who loved them as much they loved him.
The good news for Brad is that since he is an Australian mixed breed dog, he would need to live in a huge home so he could enjoy the rest of the days of his life in a home that fit his needs.
The Michigan couple decided to pay the shelter $1,600 dollars to pay for the expenses for Brad to come to live with them in a farm in Michigan for the remainder of his days.
That old saying is true “Good things come to them who wait.” My hat is off to the Michigan who have their dream dog to share their lives with for many years to come.
Beautiful story. I am happy for the dog
big dogs need a lot of room, but they also have a lot of love
That is very true since my late dad Prince who was a sheepdog fit that mold of dog.
all the breeds that herd sheep are very smart and compassionate…
According to my late mom, Prince was her favorite dog all time.
I like big dogs. Not a fan of the little yappy type
A nice story, my friend … in the end everyone was happy and that’s the most important thing
I really enjoyed sharing this story on this site.
A win-win situation for the owner and the dog. Great story.
That is true since my experiences with the animal shelters is that the relationship between the dog and owner has to be right in order for the transaction to be taken care of.
We had an Australian Shepard. they are incredibly smart dogs.
I have never had an Australian Shepherd pet before. I will take your word for it that would make for great pets.
Ours was way to smart. I don’t know that she came to our family at a good time and she struggled with her place in the family. But later, she was truly a great dog.
The same thing happened to my late mixed breed German Shepherd and Black Lab mixed named Thunder who distrusted males since he was abused as a puppy by his previous owner.
I suspect our dog had been abused. But that is now long ago.
