Even Near The End Sunsets Are Still Beautiful – photomontage 2017
How are we supposed to be at peace with our lives during reports of a coming mass extinction? As scientists report with near certainty that the world we know is on the verge of collapse do we spend our time fretting about impending doom or can we enjoy our world which is still incredibly beautiful?
At the end of the day when light and warmth is about to change into cold darkness we don’t worry about what is coming as we enjoy the incredible beauty of the sunset. If it is the end of our world, our planet is still full of beauty and wonder. We need to do what we can to mitigate the extinction of animal life on our planet; but, we also need to be at peace with what may change and enjoy our daily lives. The end of the world, like the end of the day, is still beautiful. For the tranquility of our minds we need to enjoy what is all around us right now. Thinking along these lines influenced me as I worked on this image.
This is a photomontage combining elements from my personal photographs (taken by me) with digital new media techniques. An essential part of my image making process is to find and photograph elements needed to make the images. I rely on a long history in printmaking and graphic arts to guide the thought process and take me through the necessary steps to complete the final work.

Very interesting image and good rendering
Thanks – I did really get some time into this one.
It’s pretty heavy on the edit side for sure. A mix of seven or eight photos with some digital painting.
we might still have time, we might still get by
every time I think about it I want to cry…

I live where Oldies Rock cannot safely be played without hearing Heart. I thought this might be the most uncommented post … I was wrong.
Thanks man
De nada. Although I am having a problem reconciling the music I grew up with as oldies…
Shoot, I said that wrong – Classic Rock is the correct term. I’m sorry. Oldies is like The Easybeats and stuff. DOH! Although when I was going to the punk rock clubs I wouldn’t have apologized for that mistake maybe.
Sorry again.
That was a joke, really. It was pretty much the same time. Roughly.
classic, oldies, what’s the difference?
I am a proud member of The Electric Church of Jimi Hendrix.
The difference is like 20 years. Here Heart, Jimi Hendrix, The Gits, – all local favorites. And I like them all.
we lost Jimi too soon. I still wonder what other contributions he would’ve made to rock…
The photomontage is very original. Let us all try together to increase life on earth. This should be the goal of all of us.
Thank you. Yes we will all try and our governments need to help us also. I’m sure you know that my government is pretending to help and that must change.
There is an exquisite irony in your comment. Grandkids are why we need to act in every way we can to make the predictions wrong. I read an article this morning and learned that when an animal is the last of its species it is called an endling. I had never thought about that – it’s sad.
I like awesome picture mash up so much more than photomontage. Thank you for your comment. It’s not a light or happy post and maybe the backstory should have been left out.
Interesting picture , thank you for sharing
Thanks for viewing the post and for your comment. Cheers.
It’s very interesting. My grandkids said “Hey awesome picture mash up.”
