Planica (also the valley below Ponce) is a glacial valley in the north-western part of the Julian Alps. It stretches from the Rateče settlement to the mountain lodge, Dom na Tamarju.Dolina is best known for ski jumping and ski flying where traditionally every year a jumping season ends. This happens most often in the middle of March. Several times she was also the owner of the world the record-last of 2005 by Bjørn Einar Romøren and was 239m.Planica is expected to return to the world record after the renovation of the airport, which began after the end of the March 2013 finals, and was completed until the finals of the 2014/2015 season.
