I have spent my whole life enjoying wildlife and elk have been a big part of that. North American Elk, or Cervus elaphus, are split by some biologists into six subspecies.I have been lucky enough to live where they are plentiful and I have been able to enjoy their changes through those seasons. I have seen elk give birth. I have seen the young take their first steps. When they are much bigger than deer and seem to be the “king” of the forest. I have even seen moose turn and walk away. Let’s see how many elk basics you know.
