It used to be
You could have a weekend
Of fun
Without worrying about
Mass shooting
And hatred that ran
So deep
It destroys innocent
Lives.
We can blame it
On many things
Left wing
Right Wing
Conservative or Democrat
I’m sorry it goes
So much deeper than that.
I am a Christian
Proud and true
But I flinch when
I hear other Christians
Say things like God’s will
And punishment for sins
But Jesus did not come
To this world to destroy it
But to save it.
We could destroy it ourselves
By lack of care and compassion
When we let hate rule the day
We can blame guns
But guns do not shoot themselves
It’s hate that runs the game
When murder and mayhem
Become part of the day.

Great poem..
Thanks it was hard to put this into words!
A Nice and thoughtful poem, Michelle. Because of this, I remembered the song Imagine – John Lennon. I wish…
I think somewhere in my subconscious that song must have been in my heart as well!
Sure, Michelle.
