This painting was painted for a friend. I`m a big fan of Star Wars, as he is. And I`m also a fan of Drew Struzan. If you don`t know who he is. You will definitely know his artwork. He created some of the most iconic movie posters of the last 40/50 years. Everything from Indiana Jones, E.T., Back To The Future, The Thing and of course Star Wars. His style is very distinct. He joking refers to it as floating heads. He said his wife coined the phrase. His process is mostly coloured pencils and acrylic paints, with brush and airbrush.
So I tried to emulate, I think I failed totally, but it`s more my style, so I`m happy with it. It has a hint of Drew. My process was mostly acrylics, then topped up with oils. I used the acrylics for the base coat on the colouring, then used the oils to blend in the colours and shading.

It’s difficult to get the exact same technique of another artist who’s been using it for so long! Great work! Very cool
Yeah I know what you mean, theres artists I look up to and try to understand their process. Only thing you can really do, is look for little hints and tips that you can incorporate into your own and hope it improves your work. Thanks for the comment. 🙂

Thank You Muhammad. 🙂
I love this painting. I grew up with Star Wars that’s probably why I love the painting. This brings back memories from the 90’s. Thanks for sharing this on here.
Thanks TheOfficialAndrew. Yeah I`m at that age too. Bobas always been cooler out of Star Wars, than in the actual movies, for the little he actually does. I`m glad you like it and thanks for the comment. 🙂
