I like the feel of the soil when I work in the garden and so no gloves for me. I need to however trim my nails which I unwillingly go for. I have always kept long nails and painted them too. Short nails are also useful while typing (lol)
What is important is that hands are thoroughly washed with soap after the work is done
I have been doing this for years and have had no issues with my health except that the hands do turn a bit rough for which I have a solution. I use aloe vera gel that is available in our garden, in plenty.

I also work with my bare hands in the garden and I am aware that bacteria may contaminate my hands.
But there is the soap and a disinfectant that one can use
I like using gloves just in case.
I like the feel of the soil (lol)
I never use gloves in the garden, my dear friend
The feel of the soil and getting closer to nature is the way to go
I wear gloves, I could not go to work with dirty hands and nails.
(lol) No one will go around with soiled hands. They are thoroughly washed with soap and sometimes with a disinfectant such as dettol.
I usually use gloves in the garden.
That is not how gardening is done here. Hands are thoroughly washed
