It took a bit of huffing and puffing, but we now have our new windows in place. We reckoned that this design would suit the look of the house a lot better than what we had before, and that is the general view of everyone who has commented so far.
When we first bought the house, 30 years ago, it had old-fashioned sash windows that did not work well because the wooden frames had warped. These new ones are UPVC, but they hark back to the old design.
Having windows fitted is a bit of a pain, what with all the dust that gets thrown around, and the nasty cold draughts when there is a hole there instead of a window. However, it has to be worth it in the end!

Looks wonderful, and it’s even better that the house is warmer and cleaner now.
we did this about 4 years ago.
Good news – new UPVC style windows have much better insulation than old windows.
Bad as you sad, dust all over!
I remember you talked about it when you were playing with my windows quiz. They look neat.
There is no scope to do anything here although a couple of years ago we changed the flooring of the entire house.
The windows look beautiful. It can be a very large project but as you said, worth it when it is done. And adds extra value to your home.
Wow great new look. Those new windows must also be a breeze to open and close now. You have a beautiful home….
It’s been too cold to tempt us to do much opening!
It is always interesting to work and repair something in home
