The Catholic and Orthodox churches recognize a huge number of “holy people” as being saints, although they do not always agree between themselves as to who should be on the list. Although some of the best-known saints are mentioned in the New Testament of the Bible, there have been thousands recognized in later centuries. Some were martyrs during the various persecutions that happened during the period of the Roman Empire, but many more gained their halo in more recent times.

I got 7 of 10. Great quiz.
Question #4 will soon be wrong. It was announced a few days ago that Paul VI will be canonized some time this year.
There are two ways of reading this question. What I meant was “Who was the most recent Pope to have been made a saint?” whereas you have read it as “Who, among the Popes, is the subject of the most recent canonization announcement?” I apologise for the confusion!
Great quiz. I did not even know I knew so much about saints before. Got 8 on 10.
Well done! I hope the alternative answers were sufficiently off-putting!
I got 5 out of 10. Not bad considering that all saints are of West Christian tradition. 🙂
Saints: a quiz
You got 3 out of 10 right!
I know absolutely nothing about Saints. Once again I have some learning to do.
