You Will Always Be a Teacher

My grandson stopped by. They were out for a ride and he had something to tell me so his Dad let him run in. He was very excited about his news. “Did you know that you will always be a teacher?”

I laughed,” Well I don’t teach school now, I volunteer.”

He got a big grin. “Use your best listening ears! You may never get paid to be a teacher, but others are watching you and learning from you every single day. It would be best if you taught everyone you come in contact something good and kind.”

“Well thank you for the reminder.”

“I just wanted you to know I still have a good memory and remember what you do and say.  I am also writing in that journal you gave me. In case I get old and have what grandpa has, it might be fun to read the story of me.”

He gave me a quick hug and kiss and ran out the door and jumped in the truck. That is a pretty great beginning for this day.
