Violation of Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) rules – who paid the price?

In the Indian State of Kerala the court ordered for the demolition of four high rise buildings that had come up violating the Coastal Regulation Zone rules.

The residents – all well to do – had to vacate those flats but not until the Government provided them with alternative rental  accommodation The demand that the government should pay the rent is still on.  It was not easy for those residents to accept the situation but they had no choice.

Two of the buildings were razed to the ground this morning using the implosion technology which did the job in split seconds.
