Tips From a Best-Selling Author for Aspiring Authors

Two years ago I was given an opportunity to interview K. J. Heritage, an international best-selling science fiction author.  I gave him a set of questions and he graciously took the time to respond to all of them.  He even told me his favorite tea.  One of my questions was about getting published.  He recommended self-publishing instead of submitting your manuscript to a traditional publisher.  But he did not say don’t try to get a traditional publisher’s attention.  This was his advice.

Self-publishing not only lets you publish your novel, it gives you the opportunity to chase your dreams.”

If you want a traditional publishing contract or an agent, having a book out there that people are buying is better than having it stuck on your hard drive. Why wait to get noticed?”
