It is sometimes impossible to imagine the trouble we go through to get some decent photographs. I always find that I put myself through a whole lot of stuff which I might not otherwise go through willingly. Taking pictures of birds, bees, butterflies and insects isn’t always easy. Most of the time they will not sit still even for a second ( and your camera takes quite a bit of time to focus) and yet I find myself so attracted towards them that I have walked miles, waited patiently with a cardboard box on my head, have had people give me those wild looks and the peril of falling off the perch I am sometimes on. It seems silly, but its sometimes worth the trouble.
This purple sunbird did put me through a lot of trouble before I could film him. Purple sunbirds feed mainly on nectar like the humming bird while hovering over flowers but sometimes they do perch on the flower base . They seem to appear black but the metallic green and the purple iridescence is visible when they catch the light. The yellow breasted sunbird is more common here and when I spot something unusual it is worth all the trouble to get a few decent shots at this bird.
The cutting down of trees all around and the growing of many saplings in our neighborhood has lead to the birds visiting the trees near by. These birds are so tiny that you hear them more often than see them in the thick foliage.
I am happy to showcase this little fellow here on Virily. I hope you like him as much as I do.

wow that was is a very unique bird.
It is common to this region south Asia.
how beautiful, it is true what you say I try butterflies there are very few in my environment and when you want to photograph them they are already flying
I love taking pictures of butterflies too. They are very fast but that is what makes this whole exercise exciting.
Never saw this bird before it is such a lovely bird I love that I can see the purple because that is my favorite color
I am glad you see the colors. The colors are even more stunning when the wings are spread under direct light.
This is a very beautiful bird that unfortunately does not live here, dear Dawn
Lado, but you have its lovelier cousin the humming bird.
