We as kids would collect flowers from neighbours’ gardens and take them to church for 8 days in preparation for Our Lady’s birthday on September 8.
There was this house a few steps away and they had a big patch of the Canna Lily. Cannas are like the banana tree that have suckers and each plant yielded only once and that plant is uprooted. There were many colours in that patch and those neighbours let us take those flowers.
There are no Canna Lilies these days I see. I want to have them in my garden and would be happy if I could get some tubers

I remember that photo and I even told you it looked like a Canna
We do not have lilies but they are Canna, dear friend
They are known as Canna Lily and they too are disappearing.
