Saturday Critters – Praying Mantis – Color crazy challenge

This photograph fits both the challenges , so I decided to share it here today.

Praying mantis’ are pretty common in the garden, they are usually green or brown in color. This  one I saw in the garden today is yellowish green, more on the yellow side than green. I haven’t seen something like this before.

I hope that this guy is eating up all the mealy bugs in the Mexican sunflower. Mexican sunflowers are gorgeous bushes with bunches of flowers at every branch tip. However these plants also attract mealy bugs like bees are attracted to flowers.

It is always fun to walk around with a camera in hand, you don’t know what you will find. I was happy to have spotted this guy.
