Papaya pie

It is actually a papaya meat pie that originated in the northern province of the Philippines. The ingredients are papaya strips that serve as the base with the main ingredient which is the native sausage. To further enhance the taste, egg is added in the middle. The crust of the pie is made from flour and deep fried to have the crunchy texture.

The local name of the papaya meat pie is Empanada which is a Spanish word. And the secret to the delicious taste is the cooking which means the pie is not good to eat when it was cooked 5 hours before. Just like the foods in a fast food outlet that they do not sell the burgers that are 5 hours old. That is the reason why the vendors have their vat for cooking the Empanada so the buyer can have the pie while it is hot.
