Our crispy pork

In the northern region of our country, they have a delicacy called Bagnet. It is pork belly that is cooked with a crispy rind. This crispy rind is what makes the Bagnet popular not only in their region but even in the Metro Manila. There are restaurants that serve the crispy Bagnet but the most common is the selling of the Bagnet that is half-cooked. The rind is already crispy but the Bagnet needs to be fried some more to get the perfect texture and for a better taste.

The Bagnet is best eaten with vegetable dishes that is usually native vegetables and a native dish. Lettuce, cucumber and even zucchini would be out of context because the taste of Bagnet is best with string beans, okra, watercress and other tropical vegetables. Truly the Bagnet is one dish that will stay since it has already proven its popularity.
