Kim started a new color this week for her Color Crazy Challenge. NEON.
I thought about the Japanese beetles that often visit my rose of sharon blooms.
In the sunlight they are a neon green.
But they can damage the plants, eat them down to nothing. I always put out traps for them to fly into.
I manage to get the majority. Hopefully this year will be better.

I know you do, I love each one of your beautiful photos.
catch 100 of them and my dad will give you a dime.
geez, it took me hours to catch 100 of those! They are sadly a very invasive species. Even through they are truly neon-colored!
Oh wow, I cannot imagine catching these pests. When i first saw them I thought oh look, a cool looking bug. Then I changed my mind when I found out what they will do.
my dad was a con person – it took me hours to catch 100!
That is funny, I think you inherited many of his traits. 🙂
i did, but i could never get my kids to go catch 100 bugs
They don’t go near marigolds where we live.
Not here either but they will destroy my Rose of Sharon bushes.
That’s a great capture! It’s a pity they destroy the plants in the garden.
Thanks, there are two here. Overnight your bushes can be covered and they are destructive.
I found a picture of a similar, maybe even identical beetle.
They are not good for your garden.
I saw the beetle and photographed it on today’s walk. Luckily I haven’t noticed him in the garden yet. 😊
How cool, I saw your photo, they do look the same.
You’re right, they really look the same. Maybe it’s really the same bug we just call it by another name.
