Native snack made of glutinous rice

What I was eating in the picture is called Karyoka which is a snack food that is native to our town. It is made from ground glutinous rice that is fried with syrup or caramel. Although it looks small but it is quite expensive maybe because only a few are selling that kind of snack food.

Maybe in the near future, the native snack foods will be forgotten and maybe just half of them will survive. The pandemic can change everything and that includes the culture of a country or region.

  • Do you eat your native snacks?

    • Yes
    • No
    • sometimes we cook native snacks

What do you think?

  1. That looks like a delicious snack. In America, there are many different kinds of snacks and I don’t know which could be called native most likely any snack that might have originated with Native Indians.
